My Thoughts

WOW
The best in this series was definitely left til last.

Nalini Singh has done what Nalini Singh does best.

Fantastic world building.
Extremely loveable main characters.
Great supportive secondary characters.
Exciting story.
Sexual tension to the extreme.
GREAT SEX!
Fun, laughter, sadness, love and loss, this story has everything.
Exciting story, exciting story, exciting story.

I read Lord of the Abyss in one sitting and absolutely LOVED it.
Micah is a hottie and a sweetie and just so damn lovable, and Liliana is the perfect woman for him.
Theirs, is a most beautiful love story that I would happily re read a lot.

A brilliant 5 Star read ~<;]

Book Review: Lord of the Wolfyn by Jessica Andersen

Title: Lord of the Wolfyn (Royal House of Shadows #3)
Author: Jessica Andersen
Release Date: October 18th 2011
Publisher: Harlequin
Source: Received from the publisher via Netgalley

Once upon a time…the Blood Sorcerer vanquished the kingdom of Elden.
To save their children, the queen scattered them to safety and the king filled them with vengeance.
Only a magical timepiece connects the four royal heirs…and time is running out.…
For practical Reda Weston, nothing could explain how reading a sexy version of "Little Red Riding Hood" catapulted her into another realm—face-to-fang with the legendary wolf-creature who seduced women. A wolf who transformed into a dark, virile man….
Dayn cursed the Sorcerer that turned him wolfyn and damned him to a lonely fate. As a beast, he mated with women to gain strength.
Strength he needed to rescue his royal parents. But as a man, he craved Reda's heated, sizzling touch. With little time left, Dayn had to either embrace his wolf to save his kingdom…or fight it to save his woman.

My Thoughts

I was hoping for something really, really great here and sadly it fell way short.

The story was very slow paced and I found myself skipping over the pages for something to grab my attention but found it lacking.

I found the characters weak and truthfully, rather boring.
There just wasn't any real spark for me, and I found the fraising repetitive.

The action picked up a bit towards the end but by then I was over it and glad to see the end.

A rather forgettable 2 Star read :|

Quickie Giveaway

I've been totally sucky in the blogging department just recently and my review pile hasn't gotten any smaller due to my hectic personal life at the moment.
Throw in some sick kids, the hubby staying out of town for work, and a recurring health problem for myself and its disaster all round!!

We ALL need a pick-me-up.

And what better way to do that than a giveaway!

Now if you follow the blog you know I love anything to do with angels of any kind, so imagine my delight when I found these totally cute, if inexpensive angel wing ear-rings.

So here's the deal....

Just leave a comment, say hi, or whatever, but leave an email address and at the end of the week I'll draw a winner.

Easy peesy lemon squeezey!!!!!

Book Review: Tempest by Julie Cross

Title: Tempest (Tempest #1)
Author: Julie Cross
Release Date: 17th Jan 2012
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Source: Received from the publisher via Netgalley

The year is 2009.  Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.

That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.

Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.

But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler.  Recruit… or kill him.

Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.

My Thoughts

This book has already been compared to movies such as, The Butterfly Effect and Jumper.
There are similarities, yes.
But Tempest is something different, and much, much more.
(so clear your mind of any preconceived ideas)
This book will blow your mind.

Tempest is not just an action packed read.
Its a love story, a conspiracy story, a mystery thriller, an action adventure, futuristic like fantasy with some chick lit moments thrown in too (tissues required!)
It really will mess with your head.

Julie Cross has intense story writing skills and has built a well written world full of vivid and alive characters, who she has thrown into some truly thrilling scenario's.

I loved reading this story from a male P.O.V. (whiny girls in love with 2 boys is SO overdone!) Jackson's story is a refreshing read.
A young man who is strong willed, has strong morals and has a great sense of what should be right with the world.
Although his life has never been perfect (even with his privileged background) he still understands the true meaning of family and loyalty. And his love for Holly is timeless....although I much prefer 007 Holly over 009 Holly.

Tempest really is a fantastic book to sink your teeth into.
A 5 Star read ~<;]

When the reason for Kieron's disappearance becomes known, loyalties will be tested, friends will be betrayed, loves will be lost, and hope will be found. Once and for all, Lucky and Liora will have to chose their destiny. And not everyone will survive their choice.

My Thoughts

I have been chaffing at the bit to get my hands on this book since I read 'A Demon Made Me Do It' back in August. You can read that review HERE

I literally devoured Fire With Fire.
Which probably was a bad idea, as I missed things that I shouldn't have.

But hot damn....I was Bones deprived!!
I will freely admit to having a HUGE crush on Bones ;P

I've now had a chance to have a bit of a re-read and you will LOVE every single sentence, every word in fact, of this engrossing, thrilling, exciting, sexy, tear jerking love story.

Yes I said tear jerking.....BIG hint *you will need tissues*

Penelope King has yet again produced a most beautifully written book that will leave you gasping for more, more, MORE!

When will Book 3 be available?
I dont know.
What I do know is, I will be I am chaffing at the bit for it already :)

Fire With Fire is most definitely a 5 Star read ~<;]

Book Review: Silverbirch by Rob Kaay

Title: Silverbirch; A Tear in the Fabric of the Night Sky
Author: Rob Kaay
Release Date: October 31st 2009 by Robkaay Publishing
Publisher: Robkaay Publishing
Source: Received from the author for an honest review

By eating an extremely rare mushroom that has a red lightning bolt image naturally built-in to its black-gilled underbelly, Nudge discovers he can create a tear in the fabric of the night sky that will allow his soul to legally leave Earth and enter Silverbirch.

My Thoughts

This is definitely not a book I would normally read, in fact I am way out of my comfort zone here.
The characters are definitely interesting and the storyline is really original.

A diverse group of children that live through a horrendous event, meet up again as adults to tackle the mysteries of their past, and encounter something so exceptionable, so unexplainable that they are quite literally changed forever.

I will say that there is a lot going on in this book.
Lots of substories and plot lines and differing P.O.V to keep the reader on his/her toes. And I really did enjoy the twist in the age old heaven/hell, angels and souls story.
I did have moments of information overload throughout and wondered if I myself had ingested some mushrooms.

Overall a well written, if mind boggling (for me anyway) story.
An enjoyable 4 Star read :]
