Release Blitz & Giveaway ~ His Wounded Rose by Lisagh J. Winters

Soul Scavengers #2
His Wounded Rose
by Lisagh J. Winters
Publication Date: June 25, 2014

Synopsis

Paranormal investigator Sullivan Wilde and clairvoyant Olivia Emerson make it back to New York without killing one another, and are now joined at the hip for better or for worse. Back home again, Sullivan’s deep ingrained inability to make a commitment causes friction between them, almost driving Olivia to the breaking point. Sullivan’s young daughter Sabrina offers invaluable insights, while Olivia struggles to make their relationship work. Fellow investigators Kelly and Hudson Hayze, a brother and sister duo, along with their producer Arnav Bhandari, make up the rest of the Soul Scavengers family. The team members are excited to meet Olivia, and make no apologies for torturing their cranky colleague over the sins of his past, latching onto his obvious attraction to the fresh-faced clairvoyant. When the Soul Scavengers team find themselves called to a mysterious mansion in rural Illinois, they get a little more than they bargained for. Ghostly giggles, squeaky, bouncing beds, clinking champagne glasses and whispers of sweet nothings make it difficult for the team to concentrate, let alone proceed with their investigation. A hundred twenty-five year old love triangle threatens to expose a long-forgotten secret when the ghost of a heartbroken young paramour attempts to shed light on the mansion’s dark history.

Olivia reveled in the salty-sweet taste of his skin. She mewed against the hardness of his shoulder as his thumb plied her taut nipple through the lace of her bra. The longer his lips lingered over her shimmering skin, the more possessed with desire she became. The hell with Sullivan saying he was addicted to her. She was the junkie and she knew it. Her fingers tucked just inside the waistband of his boxers and she pushed them as far down his hips as she could manage. He took over from there, kicking them off.
“You make me crazy,” Sullivan murmured between delectable kisses and small, ravenous bites across her collarbone. “My God, I want you so bad.”
Only he was capable of inciting a full-on riot within her body. “You’re welcome,” Olivia rasped, feeling his hands move between their bodies.
He unbuttoned her jeans with one hand, slipping his fingers inside the front of her lace bikini panties. Olivia gasped, her stomach swirling around like fireflies on a moonlit night, and she bit at her bottom lip. He was barely touching her and she was vibrating beneath him.
Olivia squirmed under his hand, lightheaded and delirious. The heat was intense. “Gods…”
“I want you naked,” he demanded, and kissed her on the lips again.
He was gentle, every touch loving and deliberate. Her breath soon grew short and desperate, and she let loose a series of small, urgent gasps. She screamed against his shoulder, convulsing into a string of explosive spasms she couldn't prevent. His strong arms wrapped around her like a life preserver, holding her until she stopped trembling, and he kissed the top of her head.
“I love to watch you, Olivia,” he whispered. “It’s so beautiful.”

 About the Author

I'm Lisagh, and I've been writing since I was a kid. My imagination knows no bounds, I've been told. I wasn't sure that was a good thing or not at the time. Turns out, it WAS a good thing. I grew up in and around Vancouver, Canada, and have a fetish for snow. Winter is my season. Being born in the dead of it has something to do with that, I figure.

Sabrina opened the red envelope and saw one word.

Mox. Soon.

After learning the identity of the serial killer behind her 83 horrific days of rape and torture, Sabrina Vaughn has suffered more physical and emotional wounds than she can handle. Despite reeling with pain both old and new, Sabrina is given a second chance as a San Francisco homicide detective. But as reporters dog her every step and hordes of mail pour into her office — from supporters and nutjobs alike — Sabrina falls deeper into a pit of humiliation and anxiety. When nine red roses repeatedly show up on her desk, followed by an ominous red envelope addressed to Calliope, Sabrina realizes that a new killer is targeting her. She is his chosen muse, and the Fates require sacrifice.

My Thoughts

I read Maegan Beaumont’s debut novel Carved in Darkness a year ago and was completely blown away. It was gripping, dark, seductive, and it left such an impression on me that I still think about it regularly! Carved in Darkness was my favorite read of 2013 – so yeah; this was always going to be a tough act to follow, especially when the first book was a smash-it-out-of-the-park amazing read. Would the story be as good, will the characters have their same charm? Would the action, mystery, romance, and intrigue live up to its predecessor? Sacrificial Muse had so many expectations to live up to!

Due to circumstances beyond their control, Sabrina and Michael have not seen each other since what happened (no spoilers) in CiD. Because of his work and a stubborn determination to keep Sabrina safe, Michael has kept his distance; but in doing so he has broken her heart. Not that she’ll admit it, because Sabrina is just as determined to keep Michael safe, and so she has found another shoulder to turn to, another man to keep her company. But there is a new killer on the loose and this one has chosen to toy with Sabrina, to tease and torment her, and she’s now the target in his sick plans to mutilate and kill.

Although a little less graphic than CiD, Sacrificial Muse is by no means less intense, it is heart pounding intrigue at its very best. The writing is smooth, flowing effortlessly throughout; so much so that I got sucked into Sabrina and Michael's story and didn’t resurface until I was done.  Maegan Beaumont knows exactly what the reader wants and tantalises them with her seductive writing style until nothing else matters except devouring the story.

Sacrificial Muse is such a great read, and I mean really, really great – it kept me guessing right until the end! And yes, there are some really great Sabrina and Michael moments to satisfy the romantic heart (but I still want more!)

A fast paced exciting read that I couldn’t put down, can I have book #3 now please?!!

Cover Reveal & Giveaway ~ Cowboy Crazy by Becky McGraw

cowgirl-crazy-cover (1).jpg
COWGIRL CRAZY (#2, Cowboy Way) by Becky McGraw

Twyla Taylor is one frustrated cowgirl. She's not winning at barrel racing or in love. She's spent ten years nursing a crush on her brother's best friend, Ryan Easter, who thinks of her as no more than his little sister. When Twyla catches Ryan with yet another no-good buckle bunny, and calls him out, he tells her to get a life, and that is exactly what she decides to do. One that does not include a buckle-bunny-chasing cowboy with a bad attitude, or an overbearing older brother.

Ryan Easter is one frustrated cowboy. He's winning every night at bronc riding, and has a different woman in every city. Mostly so he can keep his best friend's fiery little sister, and his desire for her, at bay. Since she grew those proud little breasts of hers, and mile-long legs, Ryan has had to fight his attraction to her. If her brother knew what he was thinking, he would kill Ryan, if her daddy didn't first. Ryan valued the surrogate family the Taylor's provided him with too much to ever go there with their youngest member.

His diversion techniques work like a charm, until one night he pushes her too far, and Twyla takes off. Ryan knows he has to find her quickly and apologize, or face his best friend's wrath. He finds Twyla in Dallas and decides she's definitely gone cowgirl crazy. He barely recognizes her, because his barrel-racing tomboy is wearing makeup that looks like it was put on with a putty knife and she's working at a bar which borders on a cowgirl strip club. When she isn't serving shots off of her stomach, she's shaking her round ass for any man with a dollar to shove into the waistband of her barely-there shorts.
Twyla refuses to leave with him, and Ryan knows he better make his final arrangements, or come up with another way to convince her and fast.

Birthday Book Blitz ~ High Heels & Naked Lies by Ila Rose

High Heels and Naked Lies
By
Ila Rose

Kay Barrett is a thirty something mom to two beautiful girls who possess more money than God and everything materialistic most could hope for. She’s beautiful, generous, kind and absolutely hates her life. She’s tired of the constant pressure in maintaining the illusion of the perfect society wife while slowly dying inside from her turbulent past and tumultuous marriage to a man that has made it his mission to make her life hell. She’s given up on happiness and love, bending to her husband’s whims in every way; permanently at his beck and call to serve as his arm candy at a moment’s notice. On one such occasion she’s to join him for a business dinner to meet the new client her husband is so eager to impress.

Ryder Sinclair is mysterious, secretive and the air surrounding him shimmers with danger, testosterone and panty dropping sexuality. Tall, dark and handsome; his blue eyes pierce Kay clear to her soul. She finds herself curiously drawn to him in ways she’s never dreamed. Kay begins to change her outlook on life and questions the lifestyle that has caused her so much grief over the years, terrified her children will become unhappy clones of their troubled mother; living a life of ill hidden lies and lacking love that Kay has never experienced.

She decides to restructure her reality, beginning by changing herself. She decides to live her life; seeking out friendships with women she would never had thought to turn to, finding strength in their kindness and courage to face the challenges in the paradox that is her existence. She longs to live a life filled with love and strives for the courage to overcome her past; and she wants Ryder by her side as she does. However, it all becomes too much. Between the deception by her husband, the lies of her father and a mother she thought dead resurfacing Kay flounders. The lies mount, the stress bends her will and she starts to feel as if she’s fighting a losing battle against the constant emotional and physical attacks. All she ever wanted was to love and be loved yet the constant pursuit of her happily ever after continues to evade her desperate grasp.

Giving up would be so easy and the fight for the life and love she desires is grueling and unforgiving. Returning to the complacent and obedient wife she was before the discovering friendship, kindness and the true meaning of love would be so much easier. Battle worn and weary, will Kay turn her back on all she’s learned in such a short time? Will she be able to dig deep; standing up for what she deserves out of life and doing so with all the grace and dignity her upbringing has ingrained into her?

“Kay, please meet Ryder Sinclaire, Mr. Sinclaire, my wife Kay.” She studied what had to be the sexiest man she had possibly ever seen. He exuded sexuality and could easily grace the cover of a magazine and just as easily appear in women’s fantasies. His cocky smirk promised an unforgettable night of hot monkey sex, multiple orgasms and serious muscle tenderness the morning after. His black hair added to the bad boy image and Kay’s fingers tingled with the desire to run through it. His ice blue eyes threatened to happily drown you within their glacial flow. A dimple winked through the absolute perfect amount of five O’clock shadow. His black Armani suit, sensuality, confidence and charm was a statement to women that he’d promise them an amazing fuck and to all men that he’s not to be fucked with.

***
A male voice close to her ear scared the crap out of her and caused her to jump; which lead to her spilling her coffee all over her favorite cashmere sweater and her brand new Uggs. She gasped, she knew that laugh. Dear God in Heaven and sweet baby Jesus, please no, she prayed. Please not Mr. Hot and Sexy himself, anyone but Mr. Hot and sexy! Shit! No makeup, no hair products, no exterior armor and wearing my damned coffee and I run into the only man that’s turned me on since Magic God-damned Mike and now I look practically fucking homeless! So she did what any other normal sophisticated mother would do. She sat on her ass in the middle of the parking lot and cried like an infant in front of God and everybody.
***
“Love hurts. Men leave, Linda. And if you love them and they leave, it breaks you. I’m already broken; I couldn’t handle any more pain or dysfunction.” Linda wanted to weep for this poor young woman, for the life she’s had and the experiences she’s had to deal with. She had a feeling she knew what caused Kay’s fear of men and love. She also had the sudden urge to hurt the man that caused her friend so much hardship.

***
He traced the lines of her face, sliding it down her neck and gently pulled her closer. “Tell me no Kay, tell me to stop.” He breathed as his lips hovered over hers. Kay was lost, caught in his spell and couldn’t deny her body one second longer. “I can’t.” She whispered. Slowly and oh so gently he slid his mouth over hers. She had never experienced such gentleness, such care from a man. I don’t know how to go back to ten minutes ago and not know this feeling existed. Her lips were so soft and so ready for him that he was dying to taste the rest of her. He wrapped an arm around her small waist as he used his tongue to trace her lips lightly and as he finally got to taste her he knew he was done.

Ila Rose is wife to one very lucky man, mother to four of the most amazing humans, and crazy to one and all. Ila has a large and boisterous family that shares in her insanity even as they add to it with inappropriate laughter, tasteless jokes and dance parties to old and forgotten one hit bands. She continues to defy aging although she has been known to take a sharpie to her grayish roots in moments of desperation. Ila lives in central Indiana and continues to insist that there really, truly isn’t a whole lot more than corn in Indiana. When she’s not busy alienating family while living like a hermit attached to the keyboard, she’s reading, watching Grey’s anatomy and Glee marathons and being silly with her kids. She loves to laugh often and usually at her own expense, music of almost any type and adores all things sarcastic or witty. Her debut contemporary romance novel, High Heels and Naked Lies is the first of the High Society Wives series and is probably going to be a New York Times best seller within a year. You should buy it before then. I hear it’s pretty good.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! A Must Read
This book grabs a hold of you in the very first chapter and keeps a tight reign on you... Wow.. The main character right off the bat is put through a very life shattering event that most young adults are not able to come back out of. Her struggles, self worth, triumphs will have you crying at one moment and laughing the next. You will be suprised at where her journey takes you all the way to the last page.. I would highly highly recomment this book to all my friends. Hoping there will be more to come from this Author as she does an awesome job helping paint a picture in your mind of everthing that is going on from one chapter to the next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational ~ EndlessReading
Congratulations, this story is griping, amazing, inspirational on ALL levels for women/children and those in these types of situations.
Its a sore subject to write a book about, rape and abuse, but the way you tell the story it was inspirational.
You have developed the characters tremendously, Kay is such a beautiful, strong, independent woman on the outside who unfortunately like some people in the world are struggling with demons from their past, therefore tainting their future.
I loved the idea of Seventh Haven, fricking fantastic :) a rehabilitation facility to help those in need, I'll say this again inspirational.
This story will touch all hearts, towards the end I was balling my eyes out.
Ryder.... where do I start with him. He is such an amazing father figure in this book, not only for his little girl Rowan, but for Kay's x2 kids Makinin and Sophia also.

1) Where can I get my Ryder
2) How cute is he...... I mean yes.....totally F***ABLE!

Glad they finally managed to expose her sack of shit EX husband too. The lying, cheating, wife beating scumbag...Urghhhhh
I am sooo glad it all came to a head and Kay, Makinin, Sopia, Ryde & Rowan got their HEA, this family deserved this, and don't forget she's a " sexy ass mum to six " and I quote :D

Chapter 2 Then
“I don’t think I can go,” I tell my mom, looking directly at her, wanting nothing more than for her to meet my gaze. She won’t—I already know that—because looking at me would mean facing the inevitable. Lily’s gone for good. Mom drums her French-manicured fingernails on the thatched placemat, the beat uneven and rushed. “The car will be here to pick us up in an hour.” Her hazel eyes, red-rimmed and swollen, focus on the kitchen window. From the looks of it, she’ll start crying again at any second. Five more drums of her fingers. A sniffle. Then two last beats. She turns her head slightly in my direction, still refusing to look at me, but I get a clear view of her face. My mother’s always been beautiful, and even with her skin splotchy from crying and her short, chestnut-colored hair uncombed, she’s still stunning in that tragic, ethereal sense. “The car comes in an hour,” she repeats before pushing away from the kitchen table and shuffling away. Even though it never left her mouth, I know the precise word that’s rolling through her mind as I hear her climb the steps and slam her bedroom door. Selfish. Maybe she’s right. But maybe, if she’d just looked at me, she would have seen that selfishness is rooted in an even deeper emotion: fear. I don’t want the last time I see my sister to be … this. That’s not a memory I think I can deal with and I'm scared to hell of it. But in the end, my dad stalks into the kitchen and motions for me to follow him. He gives me a gentle nudge toward the staircase with the instructions to get dressed and do it fast. Skin flushed, I find myself in my room. By the time I’m finished there are clothes all over the place and my chest is heaving up and down. I glare at myself in the mirror, at my chocolate brown eyes that are clear because I’ve been too numb to cry. Eyes like Lily’s. “You selfish bitch,” I mutter and make myself look away. “You’ve ruined everything.” On the way to the funeral home, none of us say a word to each other. The closer we get, the more and more I don’t mind the silence. Maybe quietness, solitude, is what I need to make it through today. I sit on the front row with my parents, unable to cry or breathe or think straight as one-by-one, people who knew my sister—who adored her—tell us how sorry they are. There’s her overachieving snob of a best friend, Kendra. The boy who broke Lily’s heart a year ago, the same one who tried, unsuccessfully, for the last year to win her back. There are teachers and teammates and her closest friends. There’s my own boyfriend, James. When he walks past, he stops for just a moment to give my hand a reassuring squeeze, but I don’t say anything to him. I don’t trust my words. *** So I continue to watch in stunned silence. There are so many people here that I don’t know that I barely notice the tall man who stops to talk to my parents. He’s speaking in a hushed voice, but the second, “Owen Delane’s brother” tumbles from his lips, my gaze snaps up. I don’t see very much of him through the sudden haze of tears, but I listen to every word, each one catching my breath. “…so sorry for what happened. For what this has done to your—” Before he can finish, my mother—the woman who’s never physically disciplined us a day in our lives, the same woman who hasn’t been able to look me in the eye since the afternoon the officers showed up to our house with the news—is on her feet, her eyes meeting his as she swings her hand roughly across his face. “What gives you the right to think you can come here?” she demands, shrugging off my dad who stands and tries to take her by the shoulders. “Will it help you sleep better at night? Do you think I care if you or your brother is sorry?” With every word, her volume rises, until she’s practically screaming. Every emotion that Delane is feeling passes over his tan face, and I can’t help but to feel for him, the brother of the man who killed my sister. Forcing my eyes down long enough for me to catch my breath, I dig my fingers into the pew beneath me. What happened to Lily wasn’t this man’s fault. Surely Mom knows that. But the more I try to reason with myself, the more bitter I feel. *** When I look back up, Delane’s back is straight and his expression is unreadable. His eyes sweep over me for a brief moment, just long enough for him to give me a solemn nod, and then he turns on his heel and walks away. I know every head inside the funeral home is turned on him, so I look at my mother instead. My father has pulled her back down to a sitting position, and she buries her face in the crook of his neck, sobbing uncontrollably. Dad looks ahead—quiet and tearless—his gaze pointed on the white casket that’s not even ten feet away from us. And behind us, I know there’s more crying. Hushed whispers because my mom just decked a guy. I can’t hear any of it. There’s a blaring in my ears. A pressure sitting on my chest. And suddenly, I’m on my feet, my gaze pointed down at my parents. “I’m so sorry,” I whisper, finally breaking my silence. I don’t fully realize that I’ve left the building until the brisk fall air knocks me in the face. It, combined with the tears that have begun to fall, stings my cheeks. A second after my foot touches the bottom step I feel a hand clamp down on my shoulder. I half-expect it to be my father, but when I spin around, I come face to face with Kendra. In spite of everything she must be going through herself, her eyebrows are pulled together over her dark brown eyes in concern over me. And I’ve been nothing but a bitch to this girl since she and my sister became friends in middle school. Kendra presses her lips together and then lets out a breath. “Evie … where are you going?” The sad reality is, I don’t even know. “Oh God, Kendra. I’ve fucked everything up.” Immediately, she wraps her arm around me, drawing a gasp, and a sob, from the back of my throat. I drop my head against her shoulder. “I don’t even have the—” “Shut up,” Kendra orders in a calm voice as she holds me even tighter. “Shut up and stop trying to do this on your own. You shouldn’t.” She releases me, takes a step back, and braces herself. “I don’t want to do it on my own either, okay?” For the next ten minutes, she and I sit together on that bottom step. Neither of us says a word, and I’m almost certain neither of us manages more than a few breaths, but she doesn’t leave and I won’t either. Finally, at the sound of Lily’s favorite Regina Spektor song—the one I’d suggested we use for the slideshow—Kendra stands and jerks her head to the front door of the funeral home. “Hey, Evie?” she whispers tearfully. “We can help each other, okay?” Nodding, I stumble to my feet, brushing my palms over my skirt to smooth off any dirt. But as I go back inside and take my spot beside my parents, letting a song about not saying goodbye burn into my brain, I can’t help but wonder what Owen Delane’s brother would have said if he’d finished speaking.
