Wild (aka Illusions)
Aprilynne Pike
Source: Won
Laurel hasn't seen Tamani since she begged him to let her go last year. Though her heart still aches, Laurel is confident that David was the right choice.
But just as life is returning to normal, Laurel discovers that a hidden enemy lies in wait.
Once again, Laurel must turn to Tamani to protect and guide her, for the danger that now threatens Avalon is one that no faerie thought would ever be possible. And for the first time, Laurel cannot be sure that her side will prevail.
My Thoughts
I was lucky enough to win a signed copy from the author herself (yay!) and I eagerly watched the mailbox for its arrival. Thanks to some speedy international carrier pigeons it only took a week.
From the very first page I was enthralled.
And it all seems so perfect-Laurel is with David, her best friend Chelsea is happy with her boyfriend Ryan, and they're seniors in high school.
I was tingling with anticipation. What could go wrong? When would the excitement begin? Where was Tamani?
I needn't have worried because guess who showed up before the end of the third page? Tamani.
Tamani. Tamani. Tamani.
I am totally, completely, eternally, in complete and utter love with Tamani!!
At every turn of the page I was transported into the body of a giggling teenage girl when Tamani was around. I became teenage marshmallow!!
In fact I find all of Aprilynne Pike's characters to be real, like-able, and interesting. Both the 'real' world and the 'faerie' world that the author has created are vibrant, exciting and addictive.
Full of interesting characters, both the ones we already love, and the ones who may now drive us insane, and twists and turns abound, Wild is an exceptional continuation of a fascinating story.
I really want to say so much more but don't want to ruin it for you with spoilers, it is really, REALLY good.
Definitely a 5 star read.

I know a dandelion is technically a weed, but I'd choose a dandelion anyway because it's my favorite plant ever. I mean, it grants wishes. How do you say no to that?

Oh this is an awesome question! Hmmmm...let me ponder this. Well, if could have a flower grow from my back (which would totally be cool)I would pick the anemone. I absolutely LOVE this flower because it's so simple, like me, but it's also very sophisticated and pretty. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

Oh my - I have not read this series and the idea of a flower growing out of my back is certainly intriguing. Well I would certainly like something that smells very good, perhaps a lavender - the blossoms are lovely, smell wonderful, and would float in the wind. Thank for for the chance to win the giveaway!

My favorite flower is the Oriental Lily. It's so pretty with a dash of pink. Plus it smells amazing. That's what I'd choose.

I would choose the Narcissus. It's my favorite flower, and although rediculed by its lore, I am it's opposite. It's like a bitter irony if I had it on my back. It stands for vanity, and i honestly have no vain part in my body.

Thanks for the giveaway and for opening it to worldwide entries.
ReplyDeleteI have never really considered having a flower grow out of my back and I would think it would be rather a problem if one did. How would I put on a blouse or anything ?
Still if I had to have one I suppose I would go for an orchid of some kind for the look rather than the scent.

Wow, thinking about which flower should I choose to grow from my back is a little shocking, I have to say xD But I would choose the tulip. I love tulips since I first read Alyson Noel's Evermore - it means eternal love, and since I'm such a romantic person, I think it would fit me - as much as a flower grown from my back can fit me :P
ReplyDeleteThank you for the post and the giveaway,

WoW Cath, I loved that review, I cant wait to read the 3rd book in the series. Book 2 kinda left us hanging didn't it. So your giveaway would be a dream come true to win and If I could choose what flower I would love to grow on my back it would be this one (Sorry I don't know its name but here is the link to its picture "http://on.fb.me/mJFGuY" I think its beautiful and it sayz the color of its petals change with what ever soil it is planted in and what the weather in the area is like as well)so its kinda like a mood ring but in plants. So I think it would be beautiful to have a flower like that on my back.
